Name Giving Ceremonies
A Name Giving Ceremony is a personalised ceremony to welcome a child into your family and your community. It is for parents who do not feel the need for a religious ritual such as a Christening/Baptism.
A Name Giving Ceremony is an excellent occasion for the cultural expression of joy, hope and acceptance, and is a ceremony at which an infant, a youth, or an adult is given a name or names.
Ceremonies can also include activities such as planting of trees, sealing a time capsule, contributing to a memento box, or releasing balloons. The naming may also be accompanied by the lighting of candles, anointing with oils, or sprinkling with water or rose petals.
A Name Giving Ceremony is not a legally binding ceremony.
